FLORISSANT - The school board for the Ferguson-Florissant District says two out-of-state candidates have been chosen as finalists for the superintendent position.

Residents will have the opportunity to hear from Bryan Davis of Columbus, Wisconsin, and Joseph Davis of Plymouth, North Carolina, about their ideas for the district at public forums this week.

Both finalists have some years of experience leading a school district. Bryan Davis is in his fifth year as superintendent of the Columbus School District, which has about 1,200 students. Joseph Davis is in his third year as superintendent of Washington County Schools, which has about 2,000 students.

Art McCoy resigned as Ferguson-Florissant superintendent in March 2014.

The board plans to make a final decision in February. Around 140 people applied for the position.
