Two MUPD officers test positive for COVID-19
COLUMBIA - Two University of Missouri Police Officers tested positive for COVID-19 and are currently being treated in isolation.
In an email sent out to MU faculty, families and staff this afternoon, MUPD said Public health officials from around Columbia/Boone County Health and Human Services are investigating the cases, assessing the risk to others, and notifying those who need to take increased precautions or monitor themselves.
“The health and safety of our officers and the campus community are top priorities for our department,” MUPD Chief Doug Schwandt said. “MUPD is following all CDC recommendations for first responders and using personal protective equipment, when appropriate.”
According to MUPD, MU friends and family can access more information about COVID-19 and university action at the MU Alert website. At this time MU campus remains open with limited operations according to a UM System presidential directive issued March 23. MU encourages the campus community to follow CDC guidelines and practice social distancing.
