Two teens charged after St. Louis hit-and-run kills pedestrian
ST. LOUIS (AP) - An 18-year-old is jailed on $100,000 cash bond after being charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian near Busch Stadium.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Dontae Jackson also is charged with leaving an accident scene and making a false report.
Jackson was charged after police identified him as the driver of the car that fatally injured 50-year-old Ashish "Bapi" Gupta on June 28.
Police last week announced they had taken the 15-year-old into custody. But the newspaper says she has been released after a scheme to blame her for the crash fell apart.
Jackson's girlfriend, 17-year-old Trena Williams, also is charged with making a false report.
Online court records don't show whether Jackson or Williams have attorneys.
