Two YMCAs Considering Merge
JEFFERSON CITY - Leaders from Jefferson City and Callaway County YMCAs announced Friday a new partnership between the two organizations.
Beginning March 24, both organizations will work to evaluate ways to better serve mid-Missouri over a nine-month management agreement. They will discuss the idea of rebranding the two agencies into one mid-Missouri YMCA.
The agencies began discussing the idea of merging in August 2013. Shelly Poire with the Jefferson City YMCA said there is a national trend of YMCAs joining together to maximize resources and increase efficiency.
"This is a unique opportunity for both of our organizations. Each is financially strong, with solid programming, excellent staff and a commitment to our communities," said Ryan Boland, YMCA of Callaway County board chairman.
The YMCA seeks to support youth and meet social needs of the area.
