UM System's offering guidance after executive order on travel
COLUMBIA - The UM System is offering support for students who feel they could be affected by the executive order signed by President Donald Trump banning incoming travelers from seven countries in the Middle East.
UM System released the statement Sunday saying they will be working to ensure this does not affect student's success.
UM System Interim President Mike Middleton and President-delegate Mun Choi wrote the statement.
"We are committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment that makes our university a special place for learning, research and engagement," Middleton and Choi said.
If a student feels the order could hurt their ability to learn they can contact the counseling center, staff within the student affairs divisions, academic advisors and professors or colleagues in their department or college.
