Twenty-eight local businesses from the Jefferson City area teamed up as pace-setters with the local United Way.

This year's goal is more than $1.6 million, which is up $20,000 from last year.

The United Way hopes to raise $600,000 from the pacesetters alone.

Businesses are preparing to start their fund raising efforts.

The United Way will announce the amounts raised from the twenty-eight pace-setting companies in September when the community campaign will kick off.
