Unoccupied SUV found in Philips Lake in Columbia
COLUMBIA - The Columbia Fire Department responded to a possible water rescue at A. Perry Philips Park at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday and found an SUV had been in the lake for several hours, according to a news release from the Columbia Fire Department.
The Chevy Suburban was 30-feet from the shore and 5-feet deep. There were no visible occupants in or around the vehicle and all of its windows were broken, according to the fire department.
KMIZ-TV reported that the owner of the vehicle had reported it stolen earlier Saturday morning.
The Columbia Police Department is now investigating the incident.
