COLUMBIA - A man involved in a car crash on I-70 May 16 has died from his injuries.

William McDowell, 86, of Vandlia, died May Thursday.

The crash happened as McDowell was driving westbound on I-70 near mile marker 124. Witnesses said he attempted to use the cross-median emergency U-turn by crossing both the driving and passing lanes.

The vehicle then crashed into two separate cars.

Two others involved have minor injuries.

The Columbia Police Department said alcohol and drugs did not appear to have contributed to the crash.
