STURGEON — Deputies from the Boone County Sheriff's Department responded to a shots fired call Tuesday evening outside of Heuer's Country Store and Cafe.

Police arrived around 6:20 p.m. to 15471 N. Old Highway 63 and found a man who was shot multiple times.

The man was taken to a local hospital and is in critical condition.

Deputies detained one man they believed shot the victim, but he was eventually released without being arrested or processed on any criminal charges.

Two neighbors told KOMU 8 they heard three separate gun shots.
