UPDATE: Probation & Parole Warrant Issued for Mom of Dead Toddler
MARSHALL - Saline County Sherrif Wally George confirmed Monday he has issued a probation and parole warrant for Lydia Iliff, the mother of the 18-month-old girl found dead near the Blackwater river in Marshall.
The girl was found after a brief overnight search after Iliff went missing with her daughter, then returned several days later alone.
Iliff has been in the hospital since the incident occurred July 8 and has been undergoing various treatments, including treatment for dehydration.
George said his office intends on speaking with her regarding an ongoing investigation when she is discharged from the hospital. Until she's released, George said the department cannot take any further action.
Marshall radio station KMMO reports Iliff suffers from schizophrenia, and at this time there is no confirmation whether the child's death is being ruled a homicide or an accidental death.
