UPDATE — Columbia Police have arrested Denico Sanchez Crawley, 30, of Columbia in relation to Monday's double shooting on the I-70/Highway 63 connector.

Crawley was arrested at 4:30 p.m. in the 2900 block of Paris Road. Police saw marijuana in plain sight in the car he was in and decided to perform a search. They also found a baggie with approximately 3.94 grams of cocaine wedged between the seats.

Crawley is currently being charged for felony armed criminal action, felony unlawful use of a weapon, felony domestic assault, felony assault, and felony possession of a controlled substance. His bond on the controlled substance is currently set at $4,500, with bond amounts on the other charges pending until he goes to court.

The two shooting victims are currently in stable condition.

COLUMBIA - The people involved in a double shooting in Columbia Monday apparently knew each other, according to the Columbia Police Department. A man and a woman were seriously wounded and a suspect was in custody.

Officers first learned of the shooting after a white Chevy Suburban crashed into another vehicle at the Verizon Authorized Retailer on Brickton Road at 3:39 p.m. The people in the Suburban had been shot a short while earlier by someone in an unidentified gray vehicle.

Police believe the shooting happened on the Highway 63 connector southbound and I-70 Drive Southeast. Officers said the unidentified vehicle approached the Suburban and the driver of the unidentified vehicle opened fire.

The victims fled the area and entered the Verizon parking lot and unintentionally struck a parked car. There was no one inside the parked car at the time.

Police said the investigation so far is very preliminary. The forensics unit was still on scene gathering evidence at 6 p.m.

Anyone with any information regarding this double shooting should contact the Columbia Police Department at (573) 874-7652, or call CrimeStoppers at (573) 875-TIPS (8477) to remain anonymous.
