UPDATE: Third suspect in Leon Wilder death charged with murder
BOONE COUNTY - An O'Fallon man arrested in connection with the murder of Leon Wilder was officially charged with murder, robbery and drug trafficking Tuesday in the case.
Deputies arrested Justin Traughber, 37, July 11 in connection to Wilder's death. Traughber had outstanding warrants and deputies found a gun belonging to him inside a home during the arrest.
According to the probable cause statement filed on July 12, Traughber admitted to having the gun during an argument on July 6. The complaint filed Tuesday said Traughber tried to buy methamphetamine from Wilder, and stole money from him as well.
Traughber was initially charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance. The Boone County Sheriff's Department confirmed to KOMU that Traughber had some "level of involvement" in Wilder's death.
At the time of his arrest, deputies said Traughber had methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia with him.
Authorities arrested Richard Henry and Arline Diedrich for Wilder's murder July 10. Court documents said Wilder had been kidnapped and shot in the head before his body was left on a county road near Centralia.
