UPDATE: Troopers identify man arrested after chase on I-70
COLUMBIA - Troopers have identified the person arrested after a chase on Interstate 70 on Saturday.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said a trooper originally tried to pull over 51-year-old Neal Chase, of Fort Collins, Colorado, for speeding, but he fled.
Troopers said they arrested Chase on suspicion of assault with a vehicle, leaving with the scene of an injury accident, resisting arrest by fleeing and speeding.
Troopers in an arrest report said they released him for a mental health evaluation.
The chase ended in a minor crash just after the Rangeline exit on I-70 Eastbound.
State troopers said Chase sustained minor injuries in the crash. As a result of the crash, his vehicle failed.
Additionally, a crash report from the patrol said Chase tried passing on the shoulder and crashed into another vehicle. The 60-year-old male driver of that vehicle had moderate injuries.
One lane of I-70 Eastbound was shut down for a brief period of time while state troopers and Columbia police officers investigated.
