Vandals Hit Boonville Churches
In the past two weeks, vandals also hit the United Church of Christ, Christ Episcopal Church and the Community of Christ Church southwest of town.
"They may think they're going to find more money in a church or something," said Boonville Police Capt. Don Smith. "But I don't think it's anything particularly against the church."
Smith said thieves seemed to look only for money, although they didn't get much.
"Most of our loss was to the damage they did breaking in, not so much the cash that was taken. It was very minimal, just a few dollars," added Pastor Duesdieker. "But we have a good amount of repair work that needs to be done."
Vandalized churches have warned others but, until police make an arrest, officers suggest churches beef up their security.
