Vanderbilt spoils senior night, beats Mizzou WBB 56-52
COLUMBIA, Missouri – Mizzou WBB finished the regular season 21-8 with an 8-8 record in conference play after losing to Vanderbilt at home on Sunday afternoon 56-52. For the four seniors on the team –Morgan Stock, Maddie Stock, Michelle Hudyn, and Juanita Robinson– it would be their final game at Mizzou Arena.
The Tigers shot 27 percent from the three point arc going 6-22. The most important three pointer of the game for Missouri came with 5:20 to play in the game when redshirt junior guard Lindsey Cunningham dished the ball to her sister, freshman guard Sophie Cunningham at the right wing for a running three point basket.
Mizzou started the fourth quarter on an 8-0 run that lasted until a two point bucket by sophomore guard Christa Reed with 3:48 to go in the game to stop the bleeding.
Reed and redshirt junior guard Minta Spears combined for 39 of the 56 Commodores points, shooting 65 percent from the field and 50 percent from behind the arc.
Missouri’s bench support was non-existent only scoring four points, and the score changed nine times.
Missouri is set to travel to Jacksonville, Florida next Wednesday, March 3 to participate in the SEC Tournament. Mizzou has the eight seed, and is set to take on the no. 9 seeded Auburn Tigers at 12 p.m. (ET).
