Vehicle Damages Jeff City Red Cross Offices
JEFFERSON CITY - Jefferson City Police are currently investigating a disturbance that occurred early this morning which resulted in extensive damage by a motor vehicle to the Red Cross offices at 431 E. McCarty Street.
Officers became aware of the disturbance and accident when the victim walked to the station from the site of the crash. The victim stated she was assaulted by the suspect inside her vehicle; during the course of her attempted escape, the car struck a parked car and the building. The male suspect fled the scene but was apprehended a short time later in the 100 Block of Marshall Street.
The vehicle that the suspect, a 25 year old Jefferson City resident, was operating when it struck the building was occupied by the victim and two infant children. Charges are being requested for felony tampering, felony leaving the scene, felony property damage, felony endangering of a child (two counts), and misdemeanor assault.
Representatives of the Red Cross responded to the scene and secured the building, initial estimates of the damage are expected to exceed $10,000.
