JEFFERSON CITY - After leading the Lincoln women's track & field team to its sixth consecutive league championship and third straight outdoor title, LU head coach Victor Thomas has been selected as the MIAA Women's Outdoor Coach of the Year. Thomas has guided Lincoln to six track & field titles in the past three seasons, with the Blue Tigers winning their third consecutive MIAA crowns at both this year's indoor and outdoor championships.

This is the third time in as many seasons that Thomas has been named MIAA Women's Outdoor Coach of the Year. Thomas also claimed the league's indoor coach of the year honor earlier this season after Lincoln won the MIAA Indoor Track & Field Championship. The Blue Tiger women are currently ranked No. 2 in the country according to the most recent United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's Division II National Poll, putting Lincoln in great shape heading into the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships.

Under Thomas' guidance this season, 15 members of the Lincoln women's outdoor track & field team have qualified 24 combined entries to the NCAA Division II Championships. The LU women lead the MIAA in 11 events and are second in two others, and recently took the league's outdoor title with 217 team points, more than 100 more than second-place Pittsburg State (108 points). In addition, Lincoln athletes were honored as the MIAA Women's Track Athlete of the Week four times during this past outdoor campaign.

The Lincoln women's outdoor track & field team is currently preparing for the 2013 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which will be held from May 23-25 in Pueblo, Colorado.
