Viewer photos show wind damage in Centralia
CENTRALIA - Brian Nichols was working inside DC's convenience store in Centralia Thursday afternoon when a brief but powerful storm came through, turning a semi on its side and knocking a tree down onto a shed.
"A really, really strong wind came through," he said. "I'm pretty sure it was a straight line wind."
It happened as a powerful storm was moving through the area.
Nichols said friends who visited the store told him power lines are damaged and there is "a lot of damage" around town.
The damage happened very quickly behind DC's.
"The whole thing probably only lasted ten minutes," Nichols said.
In addition to wind and rain, quarter-sized hail fell for several minutes, he said.
