Volleyball Cougars Overpower William Woods

COLUMBIA - The Columbia Cougar volleyball team improved its American Midwest Conference (AMC) mark to 3-0 on Thursday night, whipping William Woods University 25-10, 25-15 and 25-12. The Cougars, who are ranked No. 6 in the latest NAIA Top 25 Poll, improve to 9-2 overall. The loss drops the Owls to 6-8 overall and 2-1in league play.

Leading the way for the Cougars was Vesna Trivunovic with 10 kills, six digs and 10 aces in 25 attempts. Paula Ferreira added 27 assists and six kills. Nicole Murphy chipped in eight kills in 15 attempts.

Columbia hit 0.431 for the match while holding the Owls to just 0.083.

The Cougars are idle until next Wednesday, September 21st when they travel to St. Louis to face AMC opponent Harris-Stowe State University. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
