Volunteers work to clean up Katy Trail after recent flooding
JEFFERSON CITY - Parts of the Katy Trail will be seeing some clean-up this week-end after the recent flooding.
Katy Trail Coordinator Melanie Smith says, "we've had a lot of interest from the public, people love the Katy Trail, and they want to be able to help restore it."
There was a lot of trash left on the trail once the flooding receded. Volunteers have signed up to help clean up the trails on Saturday.
Volunteers will meet at the North Jefferson Trail Head. Trash bags will be provided. Anyone who is going is encouraged to bring boots, gloves and bug spray.
Those who have not registered yet must register by 8 a.m. at the Katy Trail.
The next clean up at the Katy Trail will be on Thursday August 8 from 8 to 11.
There will also be a clean up at the McBaine trail-head on Saturday August 10.
