Water valve removal slows down traffic on Paris Road
COLUMBIA - Traffic on Paris Road and William Street will be slowed down Tuesday.
Columbia Water and Light will remove a water line valve near the intersection.
The city said the valve is not in an ideal location and is no longer necessary because of five new valves in the same area.
The project will take most of the day and will be finished by Wednesday morning at the latest. During that time, drivers will be unable to turn left or right onto William Street from Paris Road and both lanes will be shifted on Paris.
29 customers will lose water service during the removal but the city said they will have it returned by Tuesday evening.
Those customers will also have a boil advisory for a full day after the project is finished. The city issued this advisory because they will have to perform a water quality test to make sure it's safe.
