COLUMBIA - Breakfast, in my experience, is an incredibly important start to the day. I have so many clients who, before they start with me, aren't eating it. Then, when they do start eating a substantial, fueling breakfast, amazing things start to happen.

I have heard many reasons why people don't eat breakfast but the number one reason is: "I don't have time."

This week, we're going to provide you with some fun ideas and recipes to come up with an easy, portable breakfast that's delicious! They are all centered around one main tool: the Mason jar.

These breakfasts can be assembled in advance, stuck in the fridge and will be waiting for you in the morning. So, let's get started.

The important components to an excellent fueling breakfast are: protein, carbohydrates and fiber. So keep that in mind when constructing YOUR Mason jar delight!

Greek Yogurt Parfait
What you need:

  • Greek yogurt
  • Fresh fruit (i.e. strawberries, peaches, bananas)
  • Almonds (Keep separately and add when you're ready to eat so they keep their crunch)

Now get ready to put your jar together as follows:

  • Bottom layer: 1 Cup 2% Greek Yogurt
  • Middle layer: 1/2 Cup sliced fruit
  • Top layer: 1 ounce almonds

Overnight Oats-n-Greek Yogurt Parfait
What you need:

  • 6 oz container of Greek yogurt
  • Old fashioned oats
  • Chia seeds
  • Milk
  • Frozen fruit (i.e. blueberries, pineapple, strawberries, etc.)

Combine 6 oz container of your fave flavored Greek yogurt with 1/3 cup old fashioned oats. Add 1 teaspoon chia seeds and 2 tablespoons of milk.

Bottom layer: half the oatmeal/yogurt blend

  • Second layer: fruit
  • Third layer: other half of oatmeal/yogurt blend
  • Top layer: fruit

Overnight Steel Cut Oats
What you need:

  • Steel cut oats
  • Dried cranberries (or raisins)
  • Milk
  • Honey
  • Cinnamon
  • Almonds (optional)

Combine 1 cup of steel-cut oats with about 2 cups milk, a swirl of honey, a few shakes of cinnamon and a few tablespoons dried cranberries. Place in fridge. Add almonds separately and add when you're ready to eat so they keep their crunch.

If you're looking for more options, you can use your favorite search engine and search for "overnight oats recipes." You'll find so many options and ideas that you'll never have to eat the same breakfast ever again (unless you want to).
