Westphalia Opens New Station
The firefighters themselves spent many hours designing the building. The Westphalia Fire District is responsible for constructing the tank, the two hose reals, and the pump used for grass fires throughout the area. And the fire fighters are not the only ones who are excited about the new addition to the town.
"It's a wonderful asset to the community to have something that size, and that quality in a town this size and we've got a wonderful volunteer fire department that operates it, so I think it's a really good thing for everybody," Westphalia resident John Deaken said.
The design of the building will play a key role in the service the firefighters can provide.
"It's just, upgrade our fire protection and respond time and everything," Temmen said.
A new set of tools was also donated to the station to go along with its brand new storage closet. The Westphalia Fire District is also expected to get an ambulance for the station within the next few weeks.
