COLUMBIA - U_News @ 4 has now entered its second week! There are lots of opportunities for you and the community to be a part of this newscast.

KOMU8 is now accepting home video clips promoting Community Events. These don't have to be fancy. In fact, we want NON-Commercially produced content. Just a 20 second video clip to get out the Who, What, Where, When and Why of your event. Please upload those video clips here. www.komu.com/U_News

You may have noticed that at the end of each newscast, we close with a photo montage of people giving a "U" sign. This is a great opportunity for a local Boy Scout troop, soccer team or youth group to get their faces on the air. Please upload those "U" photos here. www.komu.com/U_News

People may comment the high tech or low tech way. You may tweet with the hashtag #UonTV, comment on our Facebook Fanpage or call the station at (573) 884-News. We also have people bringing out comments on a "paper napkin". Someone brought a 10 pound zucchini to the newsroom the other day. We read that community event on the air. The more random the item, the better.

We are also recording short web cam interviews with Community Groups promoting their next event. During these U-Care sessions, that person also gets to announce Doppler Dave and other segments of our newscast. If the Community Group doesn't have a webcam, they may set up a time through me to be recorded at any one of the 14 libraries in mid-MO that will soon be Google Plus web cam enabled.

If someone is interested in being a part of our live cyber couch during the 4pm newscast, please have them email me at sarahhill@komu.com to ask for a Google Plus invitation. We need to meet them first to discuss FCC rules before we can put them on the air live. Our rotating cyber guests must be available from 3:40-5pm, have a G+ account, a good internet connection and a webcam to be a part of the 4pm news.

Don't have a whole hour to Hangout during the news? During the afternoon promo recording, I open a Hangout from 2-2:15 pm for a Hey U moment....that Hangout appears in the back ground of my news update.

Cyber guests can also come and go as they please during Doppler Dave's live hangout from 4-5 pm. All you need to join Dave's hangout is a G+ account and a webcam. No reservation required.

What are U waiting for?
