What Ever Happened to Gus Otto?
Before answering that question, let's look at some other former Tigers in pro football's biggest game.
This Sunday, the Steelers square off against the Seahawks in Super Bowl XL. One former Missouri Tiger, Michael Harden, is a rookie defensive back for Seattle.
And, who could forget MU's Mike Jones making the game-saving tackle in Super Bowl XXXIV for the Rams? Two former Tigers, Tony Galbreath and Jerome Sally, played in Super Bowl XXI. They both live in mid-Missouri.
So, what happened to the first Missouri Tiger to play in a Super Bowl? He's Gus Otto and he played for the Oakland Raiders in Super Bowl II against the Green Bay Packers.
"It was the biggest thing I had ever seen, anyway, up to that point," he said.
Otto also said the Steelers will win Sunday because they're playing so well away from home.
The game we call the Super Bowl was the NFL-AFL World Championship Game for the first two years. But, we use the Super Bowl label retroactively to include all of the games.
