William Woods Golf Wins Tenth Consecutive Conference Title
FULTON, MO -- The No. 4 ranked William Woods women's golf team won their 10th consecutive American Midwest Conference Championship, as the Owls shot a 620 (313-307; +44), 93 shots better than second place Lyon College.
The Scots scored a 713 (358-355; +137) and right behind Lyon was Hannibal-LaGrange who shot a 716 (364-352; +140). Park University ended up in fourth place with a 728 (372-356; +152), followed by Columbia College hitting a 755 (375-380; +179) rounding out the top five.
Freshman Myriam Hassan won the AMC Championship, holding onto her First Round lead, as she ended the tournament with a 151 (76-75; +7). Alejandra Ferrer finished in second place just two shots behind Hassan, scoring a 153 (78-75; +9).
Jamie Palermo added another top five finish to her season as she ended up in third place, hitting a 157 (78-79; +13). Senior Lindsey Johnson closed out the two-day event for a fifth place finish, shooting a 159 (81-78; +15) and Jodie Peacock made the top 10, scoring a 167 (81-86; +23) for a sixth place finish.
The Owls close out the season before Nationals with four straight victories and arguably the top women's team in the nation.
The team now automatically qualifies for the 2013 NAIA Women's Golf National Championships that will be held in Lincoln, Neb., from May 21-24.
