Winning the Jackpot
Fred Scheinost was introduced at a news conference yesterday at Cosentino's Apple Market in Raytown, where he bought the winning ticket.
The 78-year-old retired electrician and his two sons and daughter elected to take a lump-sum payment of $17.2 million. That's worth $4.3 million apiece before taxes for Scheinost, 44-year-old Andy Scheinost and 52-year-old Becky Pycior of Lee's Summit, and 49-year-old Phil Scheinost of Overland Park, Kansas. The elder Scheinost says he's been buying five combinations twice weekly for years.
