Woman Charged For Flushing Baby
KANSAS CITY (AP) - A 20-year-old Kansas City woman has been charged with first-degree assault after allegedly attempting to flush her newborn baby down a toilet. Ashley Woods gave birth to baby boy on Aug. 27th while working at a Kansas City McDonald's. Co-workers say they called for paramedics after they found her in the bathroom bleeding from an apparent miscarriage. Emergency workers found the baby in a toilet covered up with toilet paper. Woods allegedly tried to flush the baby twice and had to be restrained from doing it a third time. At the time, Woods told paramedics that she didn't know she was pregnant. But this week she told police she had known since July that she was pregnant but didn't want to seek prenatal care. The baby is now in foster care.
