Woman pleads guilty to fraud at Missouri ammunition plant
INDEPENDENCE (AP) — A 36-year-old woman who worked for a subcontractor at the Lake City Ammunition Plant in Independence admitted stealing about $160,000 in equipment.
Brooke Brooks pleaded guilty Friday in federal court to theft of government property. Brooks ordered equipment and supplies at the plant.
As part of her plea agreement, she admitted that over four years, she ordered too much equipment such as power washers and electric drills.
The Kansas City Star reported Brooks kept the extra equipment and sold it on sites like Craigslist and eBay, or to other Lake City employees who were told it was excess equipment.
The scheme was discovered in February 2017 when an employee complained that he had not received equipment he ordered from Brooks.
