KANSAS CITY (AP) - Police crews continued searching Kansas City's City Hall after a bomb threat.

Kansas City police on Tuesday morning evacuated about 600 people from City Hall and closed streets in the area after someone called to say a bomb was placed in the building Monday afternoon. The threat was called in about 8:30 a.m. in the middle of public testimony about the future of Kansas City International Airport. The meeting will resume in two weeks.

City Hall remained evacuated Tuesday afternoon as tactical officers and bomb-sniffing dogs went floor-by-floor checking the 29-story building. City officials say the building could re-open at 3 p.m.

Officers sent a robot to check one item found in a fountain that looked like a camera bag. Investigators destroyed the item, which turned out to be harmless.
