Young Stephens Team Growing Up
Coach Dane Pavlovich uses team-building exercises to bridge the gap between players' experience and abilities.
"Another thing we've done is trust exercises, where one player leads a group of players who are bound together by a jump rope," he described. "And we did this last year through an obstacle course."
His players like the team-building exercises, too.
"It gets us out of some of the running drills."
"I think they're different but I think they're great."
"I get a kick out of some of the stuff that we do."
Before practice, the team also does a different drill.
"A sheet of paper, and on one side, we wrote compliments about each person as the sheet got passed around," explained Pavlolich. "On the backside, we wrote things we want to develop into as a player and as a person. We made paper airplanes out of them and threw them from the top of the video booth, symbolizing how we want those great things that we have to soar."
And, these Stars can soar to new heights if they win their final three games to set a record for most victories in one season. They hope to get the first of those this Saturday against Avila College in Kansas City.
