BOONVILLE - As Spring gets underway again, so does the Big Muddy Folk Festival in Boonville. This is the 20th year for the festival which celebrates unique music and good times.

More than 1,200 people come to the festival each year, and more than half of them come from outside the state. The festival hosts a BBQ prior to the performance on Friday night where many people mingle and enjoy each other's company.

After the BBQ, music lovers file into the Thespian Hall to enjoy the sounds of such musicians as Paul Fotsch as they play seperately and together.

On Saturday, the festival hosts workshops where people can play their own instruments and hear some poetry just for starters.

Almost all of the proceeds from the festival go toward the festival for next year, but a small portion goes to help the efforts of the Friends of Historic Boonville. The organization hosts the event and also works to preserve the historic buildings in Boonville and to promote the arts as well.
