Amputee Cyclists Traveling 750 Miles Stop in Columbia
COLUMBIA - John Cool loves to ride and he would not let a motorcycle accident that took his right leg take that away from him. Cool lost his right leg just above-the-knee, but has made a recovery through prosthetic technology and is now making a 750 mile bike ride across mid-America. Cool and other bicyclist set out on May 21st from Clarksville, Ohio to ride to the Amputee Coalition National Conference in Kansas City, Missouri. The trip is part of the "Riding to Empower Amputee Determined Youth" program, also known as "READY Ride". The bikers are riding across four states to promote amputee awareness and raise money for to send kids to Amputee Coalition Paddy Rossbach Youth Camp. The riders are attempting to ride 100 miles a day. They estimate they will arrive at Kansas City on June 1st.
