JONESBURG - Police are on a hunt to find an armed robber. Jonesburg Police said an armed, unidentified man walked into the Jonesburg State Bank around 3:00 p.m Monday with a note demanding money.

The note said he was armed with a gun and was prepared to use the weapon. Jonesburg State Bank President Dan Robb said the man proceeded to show the female teller his weapon but did not use it. The robber took an undisclosed amount of money.

He then fled on foot heading East. The FBI, Missouri Highway Patrol, Montgomery County, and Warren County officials also came to help with the search.

Police described the suspect as a white male between the ages of 18 and 25.  The suspect is approximately 5'10'' to 6' with short, brown hair.  The robber is also believed to have his left ear pierced.

Jonesburg Police Department Chief J.D Sinclair said this type of crime is extremely unusual for his small town of only about 700 people.

"We're just a quiet little town.  We've got our problems, but who doesn't? It just doesn't happen here," Sinclair said.

Sinclair said he has received multiple tips, but hasn't had any successful leads. If you have any information, please call the Jonesburg Police Department at 636-488-5200 or the FBI at 314-589-2718
