City Reapportionment Panel Meets to Discuss Thursday Hearing
COLUMBIA - Members of the city's reapportionment panel met Tuesday afternoon to discuss plans for moving forward with redistricting council wards. They prepared for the public hearing that will take place Thursday evening.
Members added a new map to the existing two proposals. The main point of contention with the maps is the way the first ward is divided up. Residents of the Benton-Stephens neighborhood say they are unhappy with plans to move them from the third ward to the first ward.
The public is invited to voice their opinions on the changes. The hearing will take place Thursday at 7 p.m. at city hall.
