Columbia Bikes and Pedestrian Commission
COLUMBIA - In a presentation shown to the Columbia Bicycle and Pedestrian Commission Wednesday evening, Park Services manager Mike Griggs introduced the proposed location of the Scott Branch Trail. The new trail should lead from Rollins Road to Gillespie Bridge Road.
"The goal is to basically provide a way for people to enjoy pedestrian, non motorized transportation but also provide a recreational trail." Griggs said. The plan will utilize some paths already paved like the MKT trail, but will also require new paths to be paved.
After the presentation concluded, the commission recommended to city hall that the trail stick to a sidewalk instead of cutting through the Audubon property near Dublin Park. It also recommended that funds be set aside for signs on the trail and traffic calming devices. Despite the recommended changes in the plan, the commission wants to emphasize connectivity with the new trail.
