Columbia City Manager Gives State of the City
COLUMBIA - Newly selected City Manager, Mike Matthes, gave the State of the City address Friday. Matthes said he is enjoying his time in Columbia one month into his job as city manager. He said Columbia weathered the recession better than other cities, but he wants to stop using the city's "rainy day" funds. Matthes commended city employees for working without raises for the last two years.
Another goal for Matthes is to make the new parking garage affordable. But he said Columbia's new garage is one of the better looking garages he has seen.
