COLUMBIA - Golfers took to the links at L.A. Nickell Golf Course Sunday, but some said it needs improvements. The Columbia City Council is set to vote on a resolution that could bring the city closer to construction plans.

According to the resolution, city employees and an outside company under contract could complete the project. Buildings including the clubhouse, a storage area and restrooms could see repairs. Construction plans are also set to fix about 3,000 feet of broken concrete golf cart paths.

"The paths are easy to navigate... but they are torn-up. They do need improvement," golfer Eric Williamson said.

Repairs to buildings, landscaping and the concrete paths could cost about $110,000. At Monday's meeting, the council could also set a public hearing about the possible improvements to L.A. Nickell later this month.
