Columbia Police Rule Woman Found on Rangeline Victim of Sexual Assault
COLUMBIA - Police announed Tuesday the woman found covered in blood in the 2900 block of Range Line Street on April 26th was the victim of a sexual assault.
Police said the investigation revealed the female victim, 34, called police and reported she had been sexually assaulted after officers found her. Officers rushing to the scene found the woman so bloody she was unrecognizable.
According to a news release, the blood on the victim occurred during the assault. An ambulance took the victim to University Hospital.
"Detectives had a hard time talking to the victim because of medical conditions unrelated to the assault," said Latisha Stroer, Columbia Police Department Public Information Officer.
The investigation was delayed four days due to the victims condition. Once she was able to speak, the investigation resumed.
Police have not made an arrest and the investigation continues.
