COLUMBIA - A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Wednesday to celebrate the Columbia Public Schools Foundation Grant Awards.

The Columbia Public Schools Foundation awarded Columbia Public Schools $61,339 toward new technology. The Columbia Public Schools Foundation raises money throughout the year to fund grants. The grants aim to reach as many students as possible.


  • Anytime CPR ($1,435.30) allows students taking health class online to practice CPR using a portable mannequin. About 50 students are enrolled in online health class each semester.
  • Gateway to Technology ($23,650.00) gives students the opportunity to design objects and create using a 3D printer.
  • Empowering iHistory ($24,254.30) eliminates the need for history books. Students use iPads to view content so it is not dated.
  • Audio and E-Books ($12,000) gives CPS students access to books on mobile devices.
