COLUMBIA - After focusing on the main roads in the city, Columbia Public Works has shifted focus to residential roads.

The department said in a press release that after making main roads passable, it wants crews to make as much progress as possible with residential roads. It posted on Facebook on Wednesday night asking for street complaints in neighborhoods.

One of the common complaints from residents dealt with the intersection of Scott Boulevard and Vawter School Road. Two comments were posted on Facebook around midnight to start Thursday, as the residents described the area as a "sheet of ice."

The city's snow status map says road crews are working on this intersection along with other residential roads. That map can be seen here.

The city also said in the release that crews would mainly work on trash collection routes that had fallen behind schedule. Trash collection will resume Thursday and if collection is not caught up by the end of the day, efforts will continue Friday morning.
