Columbia School Board Discusses Autonomous Schools
COLUMBIA - The Columbia School Board saw a presentation at the school board meeting Monday night about possibly transforming three schools into autonomous schools.
The three schools in question are all elementaries: Benton, Lee and Ridgeway.
The autonomous schools would be able to establish their own rules and regulations independent of the district. Some of their own rules and regulations include establishing their own budget, making their own calendars and managing their own curriculum.
The principal of Ridgeway Elementary School hopes to have a final plan in place by spring.
