Columbia Voluntary Action Center Warms Up Low-Income Families
COLUMBIA - The Voluntary Action Center teamed up with D & H Drugstore, local faith congregations and others to provide warm clothes, blankets and more winter necessities for low-income families in the area.
Families went to the Armory on Saturday morning to pick up the items they needed. Local donors gave clothes, jackets, gloves and blankets beginning in August. Since then, the items have been sitting in a storage unit until the Warm Up Columbia event.
Volunteers at the event said they saw a good turnout this year. They said they have more than 30 volunteers helping out.
