COLUMBIA - Admist a year of big changes for Columbia Regional Airport, Frontier Airlines announced they would be adding more flights this spring. In November, Frontier started flying to Orlando International Airport on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Starting April 8th, Frontier will fly to Orlando three times a week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

The addition of Frontier prompted the City of Columbia to start major renvoations. Frontier planes seat 138 people, more than twice the amount on Delta's Atlanta and Memphis flights. The larger aircraft requires an expanded runway.  Columbia Regional is also expanding their terminal size and parking lots to accomodate the increase in passengers departing and arriving.

The renovations come at a good time for Columbia Regional Airport. This February, American Airlines begins it's flight service from Columbia to Chicago O'Hare and Dallas/Ft.Worth. But February also means the end of all Delta Airlines flight service.

Delta Airlines decided to leave Columbia Regional Airport after the City of Columbia added the American Airlines routes. Delta Airlines service ends February 13th. The next day, American Airlines begins its flight service.
