O'FALLON - Baseball players from Cooter High School walked away with a Class 1 Division state title Thursday afternoon. The team faced Northeast Cairo in the Class 1 Championship after Cairo beat New Franklin Wednesday in the semi-final round.

Thursday's game at T.R. Hughes Ballpark was rather sloppy with a total of 5 errors in the game.

In the top of the 2nd inning, Cooter reached the base on an error and the next batter drove the runner in wth a single to right.

Both pitchers, Brad Roberts from Cairo and Tyler Mclevain from Cooter, gave admirable performances. Both players pitched complete games and neither had an earned run. Cairo's Brad Roberts struck out 10 batters.

The run early in the game because of an error was all Cooter would need, as they took the final Class 1 game with a score of 1-0.
