CALLAWAY COUNTY - Deputies arrested an Owensville man over the weekend after a reported kidnapping in the Holts Summit area.

On Saturday, shortly after 11 pm, deputies responded to the 11000 block of Brad Lane for a reported burglary and child kidnapping. They were told a man came into the home and made threats, then took a six-year-old child with him when he drove away.

Deputies identified the suspect as 38-year-old Rodney Trentmann. Authorities in Gasconade County found Trentmann shortly before 12:30 a.m. Sunday - less than 90 minutes after the initial report - and stopped him. They took the child into protective custody and arrested Trentmann. He was later booked into jail on suspicion of burglary, parental kidnapping and stalking.

A judge ordered Trentmann be held in jail on no bond.

In a press release, Callaway County Sheriff Clay Chism offered his thanks to other agencies that helped in the investigation, including the Holts Summit Police Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Owensville Police Department and Gasconade County Sheriff's Office.
