JEFFERSON CITY - Mayor Eric Streumph said Wednesday worries about potential river flooding will change Fourth of July celebration plans in the capital. Residents watching the fireworks display for the Salute to America Celebration fireworks will no longer be able to watch from Mokane Road on the north side of the river due to fears of a possible levy breech.

Streumph said the closure and other closures are precautions and he thinks the river will stay four or five feet below any threatening level during the holiday weekend.
