Fulton police investigate shots fired near Westminster College
FULTON - Fulton police investigated shots fired Monday afternoon near Westminster College.
Westminster security director Jack Benke said officials were notified of the incident north of campus on West Ninth Street at around 12:45 Monday afternoon. He said the campus did not activate its mass alert system or go on lock down as officials did not believe there was an immediate threat to campus.
Benke said officials had information the individual or individuals responsible fled away from campus and it was a targeted, not random, incident.
Police reported that a gold passenger car was shot at and left the scene. Two shell casings were found. Police located the vehicle and found two bullet holes in the side of it. The driver of the vehicle was unaware that his vehicle had been shot at. No injuries were reported.
Fulton Police Chief Steve Meyers said officials are interviewing residents in the area.
