Governor Nixon's Salary Ranks 25th in the Nation

COLUMBIA - The Council of State Governments released US governor's 2013 salaries. The salaries ranged from $187,256 to $70,000. The average pay for a governor is $133,348 a year. 

According to the data, Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon's salary was $133,821. That number ranks 25th in the nation.

Nixon said, "Seems like we're right in the middle (laughs)."

If you compare Missouri and the other eight states that border it, Nixon's salary is fifth out of the nine. Again, right in the middle.

The highest paid governor in the nation is Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett whose salary was listed at $187,256. Maine Gov. Paul LePage's salary of $70,000 came in at the lowest in the country.
