COLUMBIA - Boone Hospital's "Know Your Numbers Mobile Health Unit" visited the North Village Arts District Farmer's Market for the first time Sunday. The unit was giving free health screenings from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The mobile unit was bought about a year ago as a gift from the Boone Hospital Foundation and Board of Trustees. The vehicle travels to all different counties around Mid-Missouri. Jeff Zimmermann, the Health Promotions Manager for the unit, said the community donated money to make this mobile unit happen and the free health screenings is a way to give back.

The mobile unit is broken up into three different sections. The first room is where you get numbers relating to your body composition. The second room is where blood gets tested and your cholesterol is broken down. They also check your blood pressure in this room. The final room is where you discuss your numbers. They tell you which of your numbers are too high or too low and ways you can fix it.

Zimmermann said the screening takes about 7 to 10 minutes. He also said the mobile unit has made it to about 35 to 40 different events. If you want to know where the mobile units next stop is you can go to the Boone Hospital website.
